  • Representatives of each member department were accounted for: Allgood, Bangor, Blountsville, Brooksville, Cleveland, Dallas/Selfville, Holly Springs, Locust Fork, Mount High, Murphree Valley, Nectar, Oneonta, Pine Mountain, Remlap, Ricetown, Royal, Straight Mountain, Summit, Susan Moore, West Blount.

Chair’s Report

 

·       Chris Hill attended the District 2 meeting at Snead back in August.

 

EMA

 

  • Fuelman Report - Our annual budget is $50,000. We have used $59,837.68 so far. Monthly Budget is $4,167.00. We have used $6,055.51.
  • Several Departments applied for the Homeland Security Grant
  • Blount County Schools Assistant Superintendent Chris Lakey wants to start some new drills with each school, each hallway has been color coded and they are asking all first responders to help with the drills.

 

 

 

911

 

  • Anyone who works for another agency Neal is asking anyone talking on the radio to not call Firebase “Fire Alarm.”
  • Bids are in the Newspaper for 3 weeks for radio system.
  • There are 5 new employees on the radio at 911 please if you call 911 introduce yourself to help familiarize you with them.

 

 

 

Training

 

·       The Pumper class was a success

 

·       Surface water class is September 7th and is full

 

·       Swift water class is September 10th and is full as well

 

·       The Rope II class was very good

 

·       Fire College week is 10/6-10/10 at the Alabama Fire College anyone interested in attending can sign up on the Fire College website.

Special Ops

 

  • Still trying to get a trailer to hold equipment.

 

St. Vincent's Blount

 

  • No Report

 

BREMSS

 

  • EMSA will start October 1st.

 

·        Expect more BLS ambulances in the EMS system dues to Paramedic shortage.

 

·        NREMT has waived education limits for 2022 recertifications.

 

·        ADPH has released guidance on COVID cases, these documents are posted on the BREMSS website at www.BREMSS.org

 

·        BREMSS needs the EMSP of the year by November 1. The also need EMD of the year by November 1.

 

·        Effective September 1, 2021 the BREMSS office new address is 410B 10th Avenue South.

 

·        The EMS Conference will be October 31st – November 4th www.alabamaemsconference.com

 

 

 

Blount EMS

 

·        Blount EMS will be hosting their yearly training if anyone needs it

 

  • Several departments have completed the Stroke training already.
  • Call volumes are up and crews are tired but making it.

·        Alabama Fire College Week is October 6th-10th with the Alabama Fire College Weekend being October 9th. 20-25 names will be added to the Firefighter memorial.

·        The Covered Bridge Festival is October 9th.

 

·        A nominating committee was assigned to Jon Head, JJ Ivey, and Mel Wade for the 2022 year.
